Kottiyam is a town on the National Highway 47, 11 km south of Kollam and 60 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, in Kollam District. The famous Amalotbhava Matha Church in Pullichira is the major land mark. Umayanallor Sree Balasubramanya Swamy Temple renowned for the famous ‘Anavalpidi’ festival, is about 4 km from Kottiyam. Mukhathala Murari Temple, Anandavalleeswaram Temple and Kollam Puthiyakavu Temple are the nearby major temples. Holy Cross Hospital, Holy Cross College of Nursing and Mannam Memorial NSS College serve the town. Kottiyam also has several cashew factories in its vicinity. Attractive tourist destinations of the district such as Thenmala Eco-Tourism site, Kulathuppuzha and Aryankavu can be easily accessed from here. Sree Buddha Ayurvedic Center is a noted institution at Kottiyam. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport (55 km). Nearest railway stations are Mayyanad Railway Station and Kollam Junction Railway Station (11 km).
